When we first decided to contact Sotheby’s Québec to handle the sale of our family property on Lac Archambault in St Donat we were worried they might not want to list it: we knew our property wouldn’t be an easy sell. Even though it has a beautiful and unique red pine forest, with close to 500 feet of rocky waterfront, and is one of the last large properties on the lake, it isn't the typically sought-after postage size lot with easy beach access with a ready-made four-season chalet. Our cottage is a charming but small three-season teardown. No, we knew our property would be a tough listing for any real estate agent, and it would take a special buyer with a love of the land and vision. And it would take a special real estate agent with tenacity and vision as well. Fortunately at Sotheby’s Québec Melanie Clarke specializes in higher-end properties in the Laurentian and the Lanaudière region. And we can’t thank her enough: her skill, patience, expertise, and willingness to go way beyond the call of regular duty at every step of the way of what proved to be a difficult sale to navigate, more difficult than any of us could have imagined, made selling our family property, in the end, a reality. Neither my sister, nor my sister-in-law, nor myself could imagine anyone else being more wonderful to deal with. I would like to thank you for your efforts in selling our country home in Dunany. We had more visits with your listing then with previous ones with different agents. I don’t know what you did differently, but it worked! We were thrilled that we had 3 parties interested in the home, and 2 ended up submitting offers. You were also the first to request an updated certificate of location even before offers came in. This request turned out to be very smart indeed, as it took a very long time to get a land surveyor to complete the certificate.

We had the experience of working with Melanie Clarke in the purchase of what has turned out to be the home we always dreamed of having outside of the city. We met Melanie when we were casually browsing homes, seeing what was out there in this market, something completely unknown to us.
